request by Mountain Girl : Has all tried the Furminator dog brush comb hair deshedding? I’m curious as into leave my puppy on my hair T-shirts & furniture (mostly T-shirts), but it is about $ 40 at the vet office. I would direct you off eBay (but I would rather buy in their office so I could get a guarantee), but only asked if someone had tried. If so, how it worked? Thank you! Best answer:

Furminator are incredible & worth every penny. To remove an enormous amount of hair on short-haired dogs.

Yes it is awesome!!! My parents dog was a shedding machine, they got the furminator and it was a miracle. Get it and if you are not satisfied take it back for a refund (which I doubt you will need to).

  2. Jennifer S Says:

Yes, love, love, love it! I used it once a day for a few days to really get on top of the hair. Now I brush him once a week. The shampoo and conditioner helps eliminate shedding too. Good Luck.

I bought one awhile ago and for me it is the best deshedding tool I have ever bought in over twenty years of owning dogs.

The hair they get off your dog is AMAZING! In fact, used one this morning on a friends lab and I could have made another dog out of the hair that came out. They can be expensive but are well worth it.

it works great, here is the web site and you can see the videos of it too.

I was skeptical of dropping that much money on a damn dog brush, but I must say I am very happy with the results! Much less fur around the house than before. I think the treats and wash they sell might be going overboard…but the rake itself is great!!

LOVE IT, LOVE IT !!!! I have Labs and I groom my brothers Huskies and by far it is the best brush out there. It gets teh undercoat which you will not get with other brushes and that hair eventually goes on you. It is expensive but it is so worth it. I let some of my friends who own GSDs and Akitas use it and they were sold. You can not beat it. I groom my dogs all the time and I haev about 17 other brushes and not one of them compares.

I am sure you are going to get mixed reactions to this question. I am a professional groomer and when the Furminator came out, I got one. While is seems to work well on some dogs, it doesn’t work worth a darn on others.
For my money, it is not worth it…I can use it on 2 of my 4 dogs, the other 2 it doesn’t work on…
Since I don’t iknow what breed of dog you have, I cannot advise you… Please feel free to e-mail me if you would like.
I personally, in the grooming shop, use a different tool…it is similar to a Horse grooming tool. It has fine teeth on one side (makes it look kind of like a saw) and it is round. The good models, you can detatch it from the handle at one end and use the “flat” side to help dry your dog if he is soaking wet.
    Good luck…
I really would like to be more helpful BUT in the grooming shop the Furminator is more time comsuming than what I currently use. Again…if I knew the breed of your dog(s), I might be able to help more.

  13. Amy S Says:

After trying the furminator i will never need nor by any other shed removal tool for my dogs are cats. it is amazing and no knock off comes close

I purchased a medium one off of e-bay for way cheaper though i can;t afford the full list price.

  14. Dawnmarie1275 Says:

The Furminator works great on dogs and cats, if your pets don’t have any skin issues you can get it, if they do I wouldn’t recommend it. You don’t need to use a lot pressure while brushing your pets. You will see alot of hair come out.

  15. Bear Says:

I said the same thing. $ 40 for a brush!! But I can tell you, it is worth every penny. I cannot begin to tell you how much less fur was inside my house with using it once a week. It is like night and day. I can only say, get it, it’s well worth it.

  16. OneChance,OneLife! Says:

they’re absolutely incredible.. one of the best things ever!!!!

I have the small one for my cats, and i use it on my 7 month husky and WOW.. like 10 handfuls EVERYTIME! it’s crazy. I’m going to purchase the big one for him as soon as he’s full grown.

Also.. something else for furniture.. you can get it at walmart, it’s called a pet hair magnet, looks like a squeegee.. it’s fabulous!! it’s 10 dollars

It’s more geared for dogs that have undercoats though.. that’s what it does, it grabs the hair from underneath and pulls it through.. so if you were getting it for a boxer or something.. not a good choice.
If you have a short haired dog with no undercoat, the wirey round looking brushes work just fine.. it looks like something they use on horses.

  17. lyttleravyn Says:

The Furminator will make a huge different, but it will also depend on the type of coat your dog has. Really the dogs that will benefit most from the furminator are double-coated breeds (German Sheps, Labs, Huskies, etc) and most cats. If you have a short/smooth coated breed (like a Boxer, Jack Russell Terrier, Beagle, etc.) than a better brush is a rubber curry brush like those made by ZoomGroom. (For these dogs, use the curry brush in circles all over the body every few days. You can brush them more as the dog will most likely love the feeling since it is similar to a massage but it loosens all the dead hair). For silky coated breeds (Shih Tzus, Maltese, Yorkies, etc) a pin brush is best and they just need very frequent brushing (minimum once daily). For every coat, it will help to get them on a regular professional grooming schedule (even if its just a bath). It will depend on the coat how often the dog should be groomed, can be anywhere from every 4-10 weeks. Hope that helped :)
